ANAB Accreditation Programs In Development

Private Sector Preparedness Voluntary Certification
Under an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security
(DHS), ANAB will be the sole source accreditation body for the Private Sector
Preparedness Voluntary Certification Program. DHS has
designated three standards for this program: ASIS SPC.1, BS
25999-2, and NAFP 1600. ANAB is moving its accredited
certification program forward, working on a 12-point plan. You
can find related information at the PS-Prep site.
BA 9000 Body Armor
The ANAB Accreditation Council has approved a BA 9000 domestic
law enforcement body armor program and it will be announced when
the National Institute of Justice completes the approval process
for BA 9000.
ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems
An ISO standard for energy management systems is being
developed. The standard is at the CD1 level and it is hoped that it
will move to the DIS level in February 2010. ANAB plans to develop
an accredited certification program for the standard in parallel
with development of the standard so that when ISO 50001 is
published a program will be ready for launch.
FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management Systems
ISO 22000 is the basis of the FSSC 22000 food safety management
system certification process, with BSI PAS-220:2008 added as a
basis for prerequisite program requirements. ANAB is developoing an
accreditation process for the standard and will operate it under an
ISO/IEC 17021-based program. Announcment of the ANAB program is
expected in early 2010. The Foundation for Food Safety Certification is
based in Gorinchem, Netherlands.
